NEGOMBO : Members of the public in Negombo protested against the opening of a showroom of a well-known florist and funeral undertakers in Taladuwa, a residential area in Negombo.
The protesters were shouting slogans and displaying placards not to pollute the city with the stench of chemicals and embalming materials in a residential area.
One of the protesters, Piyamwardena told Colombo Times that normally such undertakers are given permission to operate near the mortuaries or cemeteries. “ The present location of the undertakers is in the heart of the thickly populated township,” he added.
