COLOMBO : Sri Lanka Navy reported on Friday, June25, another fire in the engine room of the MSC Messina, a container ship, some 480 nautical miles away from the Great Basses Reef Lighthouse.
The spotted vessel is MSC MESSINA (IMO: 9074042) is a Container Ship that was built in 1995 (26 years ago) and is sailing under the flag of Liberia. It’s carrying capacity is 4743 TEU and her current draught is reported to be 8.6 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 299.95 meters and her width is 37.1 meters.
The vessel departed from COLOMBO, LK on 2021-06-23 16:25 LT (UTC +5.5) and is currently sailing at 18.8 knots with Southeast direction heading to SINGAPORE, SG.(pix courtesy)
