COLOMBO : The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs has informed the Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha that the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero, will not be produced before the court on Friday,Oct.(23).
This follows earlier statements indicating that, in accordance with revised prison regulations, he was scheduled to be produced in court tomorrow for legal proceedings while wearing his monastic robes.
However, in response to an inquiry by Ada Derana, the Anunayaka of the Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, Ven. Prof. Kotapitiye Rahula Thero, stated that the Ministry of Buddhasasana had informed the Mahanayaka (Chief Prelate) of the Sangha Sabha, Most Ven. Dr. Ittapana Dhammalankara Thero, that Ven. Gnanasara Thero would not be produced in court on Friday.
Deputy Minister Gamagedara Dissanayake said since the court had indicated that will not be necessary for Ven. Gnanasara Thero to be produced before the court tomorrow, he had taken steps to inform the Mahanayake Thero regarding this matter. Ada Derana
