ISLAMABAD : The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, hosted a dinner reception in honor of the Sri Lanka Men’s National Volleyball Team on 24 July 2026 at Sri Lanka House in Islamabad.
The team is currently in Pakistan to participate in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nations League Volleyball Championship, being held in Islamabad.
The reception brought together players, team officials and members of the High Commission in a warm and cordial setting, reflecting Sri Lanka’s appreciation for the national team’s participation in the regional championship and its commitment to promoting sporting excellence.
Among those present was the Deputy Head of Mission, Christy Ruban, Defence Attaché, Brigadier Krishan Gunaratne, and staff members of the High Commission along with their families. They joined the High Commissioner in extending a warm welcome to the Sri Lankan delegation.
Addressing the gathering, High Commissioner Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne conveyed his best wishes to the team for a successful campaign in the tournament and encouraged the players to represent Sri Lanka with determination, discipline and sportsmanship. He also commended the team’s dedication and highlighted the important role of sport in fostering friendship and strengthening regional ties.
The evening provided an opportunity for the players and officials to interact with members of the Sri Lankan diplomatic mission underscoring the High Commission’s continued support for Sri Lankan athletes representing the nation abroad.
