


COLOMBO ; The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Khalid Hamoud Nasser Alkahtani, paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on Thursday, July 16 July 2026 at Temple Trees.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the Prime Minister commended the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and appreciated the continued cooperation between the two countries across a range of sectors.
The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude to the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the timely humanitarian assistance extended to Sri Lanka following the impact of Cyclone Ditwah. She also conveyed appreciation for the Kingdom’s continued support to Sri Lanka’s education sector through Saudi Government-funded initiatives.
Ambassador Alkahtani thanked the Government of Sri Lanka for the close cooperation and support extended during his tenure, and assured the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Sri Lanka in the years ahead.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding bilateral relationship and expanding cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
The occasion was attended by Mr. Yasir Alhazemi, Deputy Ambassador; Mr. A.C.A. Mazahir, Secretary to the Ambassador; Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister; Ms. Sagarika Bogahawatta, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister; and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.
