COLOMBO – The Iran Cultural Centre in Colombo organized an insightful panel discussion on “Exploring the Spiritual Life and Ethical Values of Iran’s Former Supreme Leader, Seyed Ali Khamenei” on 03 July 2026, under the patronage of Dr. Ali Kebriaei Zadeh, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The event brought together academics, legal professionals, journalists, researchers, and social leaders for an entire exchange of views on the spiritual philosophy, ethical leadership, and intellectual contributions associated with Seyed Ali Khamenei.
The discussion was moderated by Mahinda De Lanerolle, Joint Secretary of the Iranology Society in Sri Lanka.
The distinguished panel included Ms. Wanda Kothalawala, Legal Professional, International Business Law Specialist, Humanitarian Advocate, Spiritual Counsellor, and Cultural Researcher, as well as the granddaughter of former Prime Minister Sir John Kotelawala. Also participating was Ms. Samanmali Padmakumara, author and Secretary of the Tagore Society of Sri Lanka.
Renowned historian Professor Nirmal Devasiri, Professor of History and former Head of the Department of History at the University of Colombo, shared his academic perspectives on history, ethics, and leadership. Other speakers included Irfan Noordeen, Corporate Human Resources and Development Consultant and Certified Trainer, Umair Nawshad, Journalist and Executive Director of the IDMJ Institute of Digital Media and Journalism; and Usama Fazar, General Treasurer of SCY-GOV – Supreme Chamber of Youth Governance.
The panel explored the importance of moral values, spirituality, ethical governance, and cultural understanding in today’s society. Speakers shared diverse perspectives on the relevance of these principles in promoting peace, responsible leadership, and dialogue among nations and communities.
The Iran Cultural Centre reaffirmed its commitment to promoting cultural and intellectual dialogue through similar academic and educational programmes in Sri Lanka.
