


COLOMBO :Sri Lanka’s Nipuni Wasana Dharmadasa delivered a proud moment for the nation by winning a gold medal in wrestling at the 6th Asian Beach Games held in China. She returned to the island today along with the national team.
Competing in the women’s 50 kg weight category, Nipuni secured her victory by defeating a Vietnamese opponent in the final. Her achievement marks Sri Lanka’s first gold medal at the 2026 Asian Beach Games.
The team arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport, where they received a warm welcome from SLAF officials, including Chairman Air Force Wrestling, Group Captain Nalin Wewakumbura and Secretary Air Force Wrestling, Wing Commander Viraj Gamage, along with coaches, management and fellow athletes.
