COLOMBO : The Ceylon YMMA Conference Founders’ Day Commemorated its Founders’ Day on Sunday, May 03.at the Dr. A. M. A. Aziz Auditorium.YMMA in Colombo .
The event was presided over by the National President of the All Sri Lanka YMMA Conference, Amhar M Sharif. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by the National General Secretary, Ihtishan M. Hussaindeen.
The Chief Guest of the event was Trizvi Marikar, Principal of Zahira College, Colombo. Also present as a guest speaker was the Rector of Jamia Nalimia, Al-Shaikh A. C. Agar Mohamed, and the son of the late Dr. A. M. A. Aziz Mr Ali Azeez as Guest of Honour.
In his keynote address, Al-Shaikh A. C. Agar Mohamed, recalled the contributions made by the founders of the YMMA which was established in 1950 with Dr A.M A. Azeez as its chairman and Alhaj Lafir Cassim as its secretary. ” Over the decades, the institution has no grown into a parent body which has more than 130 branches,’ he added. He pointed out that Dr. Azeez was responsible in developing three main institutions such YMMA, Zahira College and the Jamiah Naleemiyah
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Past Presidents, Permanent Members, Special Members, District Directors and number of YMMA members graced the occasion, contributing to the success of this memorable event. A distinguished gathering of scholars and professionals also graced the occasion, adding pride and dignity to the occasion.
Moreover, the event was made more meaningful and impactful by the participation of a significant number of school students and Ahadiya students.
Notably, in the past years, the YMMA Founders Day celebration was mostly limited to Past Presidents, Executive Committee members, family members of the founders and their close circles. However, this year’s event marked a significant evolution by including a wide and diverse group of participants and invitees from various sections of the society. This expansion represented a progressive step in strengthening the engagement, inclusivity and broad reach of the YMMA Conference.
The collective participation of all parties made this Founders’ Day celebration a successful, dignified and unforgettable event.
