
COLOMBO,— Pakistan’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd) Dr Nayyar Naseer, HI (M), who presented his credentials to the President of Sri Lanka during an official ceremony held at the President’s House on Monday, April 20 , assumed duties at his office in Colombo
During the audience with the president, High Commissioner Nayyar Naseer conveyed the warmest greetings and best wishes from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan to the President and the people of Sri Lanka. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to further deepening the long-standing fraternal ties and enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade, defense, and cultural exchange.
Major General (Retd) Dr Nayyar Naseer, HI (M), PhD brings to his new assignment a distinguished career spanning over three decades of exemplary service in the Pakistan Army. A highly decorated officer, he was conferred with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his meritorious services to the nation. He got commissioned in infantry in 1990 and retired after meritorious service of 35 years in 2025. During the illustrious career, his major assignments included commanding his parent infantry Battalion during counter terrorism operations in South Waziristan (erstwhile FATA), command of elite Siachen Brigade and an Infantry Division. The General Officer is graduate of Command & Staff College, Quetta, Armed Forces Command & Staff College, Tehran (Iran), National Defence University, Islamabad and National Defence University, Fort McNair, Washington DC, USA. He also remained Instructor at Pakistan Military Academy, Directing Staff and Senior Instructor at Command & Staff College, Quetta.
The General Officer possesses a Persian language diploma, has two Masters Degrees to his credit, holds an MPhil and a PhD degree in Governance and Public Policy. The High Commissioner is happily married having a son and a daughter.
