COLOMBO – Sinhala and Tamil Avurudhu with Russia an historical moment at Colombo Good Market turned into an amazing festive vibe with vibrant performances, games, fun , music, dance, art , chess workshops, gifts , Sri Lankan and Russian Food cuisine along with the bridging the two cultures with its people.
The “Good Market Avurudu with Russia” was held at the Racecourse premises during the regular Saturday Good Market on the 11th of April celebrating 70 years of bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Russia while bringing together the two cultures during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The event featured a vibrant mix of cultural performances by the Russian School of Ballet and Music, alongside Russian-themed stalls showcasing ballet, chess, art, literature, and cuisine.
The occasion was graced by Levan Dzhagaryan, Ambassador of Russia to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Madam Maria Popova, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian federation and director of the Russian House in Colombo, and Buddhapriya Ramanayaka, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian House in Colombo. Mrs. Chandi Aluvihare-Cultural Officer, staff of the Russian Centre in Colombo, students and their parents. The Co founder of Good Market Mrs. Achala Samaradivakara and her staff extended the invitation to The Russian Centre in Colombo to collaborate the event.
Throughout the day, the event also included traditional Avurudu games, with enthusiastic participation from the Good Market community, creating a lively and meaningful cultural exchange.
The event became a striking example of strengthening friendship and cultural dialogue. The atmosphere of the holiday, filled with music, flavors and lively interaction, was widely responded to the market visitors.
