COLOMBO : For over 20 years, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka has been at the forefront of delivering sustainable, community-driven development initiatives across the island. Building on this long-standing commitment, the organization continues to make meaningful strides in enhancing access to quality education through the establishment of Digital E-Learning Resource Centres in underserved communities.
With the generous support of Muslim Aid UK, several schools in the Trincomalee District—namely T/Kin/An-Nahar Ladies College, T/Kin/Al-Hira Muslim Girls Maha Vidyalaya, and T/Kin/Mullipothana Central College—have been equipped with fully renovated and refurbished digital learning facilities. These centres provide students and educators with uninterrupted access to modern, technology-driven education, enabling digital literacy, interactive learning, and exposure to global knowledge resources.
The handover ceremonies, held upon the invitation of school principals, teachers, and local communities, marked a significant milestone in strengthening inclusive and equitable education. These initiatives not only enhance classroom experiences but also contribute to narrowing the digital divide in rural and vulnerable areas.
Beyond education, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka implements a wide range of integrated interventions aimed at improving the overall well-being of communities. Livelihood development programmes support vulnerable families through vocational training, small business assistance, and agricultural inputs—enabling them to increase income, build resilience, and achieve sustainable self-reliance.
In parallel, the organization actively responds to emergencies such as floods and landslides, delivering timely humanitarian assistance while also investing in long-term disaster risk reduction and recovery efforts. This dual approach ensures that communities are better prepared to withstand future shocks.
Recognizing the importance of youth as agents of change, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka also prioritizes youth empowerment through skills development, entrepreneurship support, and digital training programmes—equipping young people with the tools needed to succeed in an evolving socio-economic landscape.
Through more than two decades of dedicated service, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka continues to bridge gaps in education, livelihoods, and resilience. Its work reflects an enduring commitment to inclusive development, empowering communities, and creating lasting, positive change for future generations.
