BATTICALOA : A writ petition filed before the Court of Appeal of Colombo by Munavvar Hassan, President, and Gaffoor Shihaabdeen, Secretary of Social Regulators, against the Road Development Authority (RDA) and the Municipal Council of Akkaraipattu, was taken up for hearing on 31 March 2026.
Upon consideration of the submissions, the Honourable judges of the Court of Appeal directed the Respondents to conduct a joint on-site inspection of the Akkaraipattu Main Roads in the presence of the Petitioners. The Respondents have been further directed to submit a comprehensive report on the present status of Akkaraipattu Town Main Roads to the Court on the next date of hearing.
The Petitioners were represented by Attorneys Pasan Weerasinghe and Safras Muhamed under the guidance of Senior Counsel Shiraz Noordeen.
