According to official statistics from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), tourist arrivals during the first 45 days of 2026 reached 401,787 visitors, reflecting a 12.5% increase year-on-year. The surge was particularly evident in February, where the first 12 days alone recorded 124,460 arrivals, up 19% compared to the same period last year, with a daily average of 10,372 visitors.

Colombo and Kandy, as host cities, experienced full occupancy in city hotels, with spillover demand extending to Mount Lavinia and Negombo.
