COLOMBO — The Rotaract and Interact Clubs of District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives organised ” Souq of Hope ” a pre Ramadan Charity Fair at the Hyde Park Grounds, Colombo on Saturday February 14 to raise funds for refugees in Gaza, Palestine.
The opening ceremony Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dr. Rizvie Salih and Ambassador of Palestine to Sri Lanka Ihab I.M. Khalil along with Ambassador designate to Palestine Fawzer Farook and Rotaract Youth Advisor Marshad Barry were also present.
The organisers said people gather here in peace, laughter, and unity, thousands of families elsewhere in the world are waking up to uncertainty, loss, and survival in Gaza, Palestine, the ongoing humanitarian crisis has taken a devastating toll.
They also said Recent reports indicate that over 71,800 lives have been lost and more than 171,000 people have been injured, with countless families displaced and struggling daily for food, medicine,and shelter. Behind every number is a mother.
