COLOMBO — The Hameed Al Husseinie College champion All-Island Under 20 Football Championship Shield, organised by the Ministry of Education at the Majanah Grounds, Anuradhapura on Saturday January 31. Hameed Al Husseinie defeated St. Xavier’s College 1-0 in the final. There are twenty seven teams from nine provinces participated.
The breakthrough came from A.F.M. Arham, whose calm and precise finish proved decisive, securing victory for Hameed Al Husseinie. Arham’s performance throughout the tournament earned him the Best Player of the Tournament award, highlighting his exceptional skill, leadership on the field, and consistency under pressure.
Hameed Al Husseinie College Head of Sports M. Munaf praised the players who executed their responsibilities with maturity and consistency. This victory strengthens the foundation of the sports programme and motivates younger students to strive for excellence.
The team was guided by Head Coach Fazul Rahman of Hameed Al Husseinie College with support from Assistant Coach Hakeem Kamil and Goalkeeper Coach M. Iliyas,
