

COLOMBO :The 122nd Anniversary of Qaseedah Al-Burdha was commemorated with deep reverence and grandeur at the Maligawatte Jumma Masjid on 25th January , under the auspices of Raulathus Shazuliya. The spiritually uplifting gathering drew an overwhelming crowd, filling the masjid beyond capacity and reflecting the enduring love and devotion of the community.
The event was graced by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Khaleefathu Shazuli Moulavi Ahamed Soofi (Mahlari), Principal of Ajward Al Fassy Arabic College, whose address captivated the audience. In his eloquent speech, he highlighted the timeless virtues of Qasida Al-Burdha and its profound spiritual significance. He recounted how the celebrated 13th-century Shazuli mystic and poet Imam al-Busiri composed the Qasida Al-Burdha in praise of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) after miraculously recovering from paralysis in a dream in which the Prophet (PBUH) draped him with his blessed cloak (Burdha).
Moulavi Ahamed Soofi (Mahlari) emphasized that Qaseedah Al-Burdha continues to be recited across the world as a powerful expression of love for the Prophet (PBUH), a means of seeking divine blessings, and a source of deep spiritual reflection.
The memorable gathering concluded with a sumptuous lunch served to nearly 2,000 attendees, further embodying the spirit of unity, generosity, and fellowship that defined the occasion.
