



KANDY : Zam Zam Foundation inaugurated the Disaster Resilience & Preparedness Center (DRPC) and the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development Programme on Saturday, 13 December at the Green Community Experience Centre (G’CEC), Inaya Garden, Kandy.
. I. W. M. C. K. Ilangakoon, Secretary to the Ministry of Industries, Central Provincial Council, Ven. Thalawature Panjathissa Thero, Chief Monk of Hathnagoda Rajamahaviharaya, Prof. M. S. M. Aslam along with government officials and well-wishers, graced the event.
The aim of these centers is to strengthen community resilience by enhancing disaster preparedness, response capacity, and recovery mechanisms, while simultaneously promoting sustainable livelihoods through MSME development. The initiatives focus on capacity building, skills development, and inclusive economic empowerment, particularly for communities in disaster-prone and vulnerable settings.
At present, the DRPC focuses on addressing disaster-related challenges in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Badulla districts. In the future, it is envisioned to expand its services and support to communities across the entire country. The MSME Development Desk will operate at the national level, supporting enterprise development and livelihood recovery nationwide.
