


COLOMBO — The 60th Colombo Camporee Girl Guides Day 2025 was successfully held on Saturday, November 8, at Viharamahadevi Park, as part of the 60th Colombo Camporee.
The event brought together more than 200 Girl Guides and Scouts from across the Colombo District for a day of unity, leadership, and community spirit.
The Opening Ceremony was graced by Ms. Shafiya Yamick, the distinguished Sri Lankan sprinter recently acclaimed as South Asia’s Fastest Woman. Ms. Yamick, who won three gold medals for Sri Lanka at the 4th South Asian Athletics Championships in October 2025, inspired the young participants with her message on perseverance and teamwork
The Closing Ceremony was honoured by Ms. Harshani Perera, Secretary to the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association, who commended the participants for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication throughout the event.
The programme was chaired by Rover Scout M. N. M. Naflan of the Zahira Rover Crew, 11th Colombo Scout Group, whose leadership and coordination ensured the smooth and successful execution of the day’s activities.
The Girl Guides Day celebration served as a meaningful platform to promote leadership, friendship, and service among youth, reflecting the enduring values of the Girl Guides movement and its commitment to empowering young leaders for a better tomorrow.
