

RIYADH : Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajwad felicitated one of the most senior Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Kingdom,,, Tuan Shamilan Doole who served as a table tennis and tennis coach over the last three decades in the Kingdom at the Equestrian Club, currently known as the Jockey Club.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh held a special ceremony at the Embassy premises to recognize and felicitate Tuan Shamilan Doole for his longstanding service to the sporting community in the Kingdom. As he concluded his professional journey and departs the Kingdom for good, the event marked a meaningful farewell and a tribute to his dedication and contribution to Sri Lankan – Saudi relations.
Doole became the third Sri Lankan migrant worker to be formally honored under the Embassy’s ongoing initiative, launched in July 2024, to recognize Sri Lankan nationals who have served in Saudi Arabia for extended period of time. Having commenced his career on 05 October 1986 and completing his tenure on 01 March 2025, Mr. Doole’s long contribution exemplifies the commitment and professionalism of the Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Kingdom. His recognition highlights the Embassy’s continued efforts to reach-out to the Sri Lankan community in Saudi Arabia and celebrate the valuable contribution that they have made to the development of both receiving and sending states.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad presented a memento to Tuan Shamilan Doole expressing his gratitude for the long service rendered as a senior member of the Sri Lankan community in Saudi Arabia which is one of the components of bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the event, Minister/ Head of Chancery, Mohammad Anas, Counsellor for Employment & Labour Welfare Mangala Randeniya and First Secretary for Cultural Affairs, Vindana Munasinghe, First Secretary/Trade Tashma Vithanawasam and Udani Thilakarathna Attaché/Administration participated.in the event.
