Revised electricity tariffs to be announced before end of this week: PUCSL

COLOMBO : The revised electricity tariffs for the second half of 2025 will be announced before the end of this week, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) announced. here on Tuesday, June 10

The statement from the Communications Division of the PUCSL said that the review process related to the proposal submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is currently in its final stage, following the public consultation process.

“A public consultation process was conducted regarding the CEB’s proposed electricity tariff revision for the second half of 2025 — which includes a proposed 18.3% increase. The process of reviewing the written and verbal feedback provided by the public is now in its final phase. Additionally, the assessment of the proposal’s compliance with the tariff methodology is also nearing completion. Therefore, it is expected that the final decision on what the electricity tariffs will be for the next six months and when they will be implemented can likely be announced within this week”, the statement by the PUCSL noted.
