COLOMBO — The 79th Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam was held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo on Thursday August 29.
It was held under the patronage of Ambassador of the Viet Nam Trinh Thi Tam.
Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda was present as a chief guest.
The event was attended by a large number of participants including Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Former Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya, Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Viet Nam Solidarity Association Sudasinghe Sugathapala, Chief Librarian of Colombo Public Library Waruni Gagabadaarachchi, Diplomats, Religious Leaders, Viet Nam Community and officials and families of the Embassy were present.
Students presented various cultural events at this ceremony.
