COLOMBO : On the occasion of Sri Lanka’s 77th National Independence Day, we, the religious leaders of the National Interfaith Clergy, Fellowship of Sri Lanka, extend our heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the Government of Sri Lanka, and all the people of our great nation.
This day marks the triumph of freedom and the enduring spirit of our independence, a testament to the sacrifices made by generations past. As we celebrate this momentous occasion, we reflect on the importance of unity, peace, and mutual respect—values that are vital to the continued progress of our nation.
Sri Lanka is a land blessed with rich diversity—ethnic, cultural, and religious. It is the strength of this diversity, united by a common desire for peace, justice, and prosperity, that will guide us forward. As religious leaders from different faiths, we affirm continuing our more than two decades commitment to work together for the common good of our people, transcending all divisions, to build a society where everyone can live in harmony, dignity, and respect.
As we mark this day of independence, we call on all Sri Lankans—regardless of background or belief—to renew their commitment to fostering peace, solidarity, and compassion. Let us come together to ensure that every individual is given the opportunity to live a life of opportunity and equality in a nation free from discrimination and strife.
We also offer our prayers for continued peace, stability, and prosperity for Sri Lanka, and for the well-being of every citizen. May the blessings of wisdom, understanding, and compassion guide our leaders and all the people of Sri Lanka in the journey ahead.
With warmest blessings and respect,
