Building Linked to Drug Activity Torn Down in Dehiwala
COLOMBO ; Sri Lankan authorities have suspended construction of a business establishment reportedly owned by one of the country’s leading drug traffickers identified as Shiran Basith.
On Monday (1), Sri Lanka Police along with the Coast Conservation Department inspected the premises and ruled that it was an illegal construction.
Sri Lanka Police said that the building in question was being built in an area along Marine Drive in Dehiwala, and Shiran Basith is reportedly living overseas.
Sri Lanka Police said that during the demolition process of the premises, an individual posing as a Director of the business, and two others were arrested for obstructing the duties of state officers.
