COLOMBO : Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs – Hiniduma Sunil Senevi sais in parliament on Thursday,June 04 that four Israeli religious centres are operating in Sri Lanka.
He was speaking in Parliament in response to a question by opposition MP Mujibur Rahman.
The minister said that the two located in Pottuvil and Thimbirigasyaya divisions are unregistered while the centres in Weligama and Ella divisions are registered under the Companies Act.
The minister added that the STF security in Colombo 07 centre, has now been withdrawn. However, MP Rahman responded that police protection was still given to the centre.
MP Rahman also questioned why the government is taking a ‘soft approach’ with regard to Israel.
MP Mujibur Rahman further questioned providing police protection to such religious centres even when the government itself admits that such centres are not legal.
