COLOMBO : Under the “Deya Nanwana Sapiri Gamak” community productivity model programme, plans are underway to develop 16 villages in the Matara District, says Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti.
The Minister made these remarks while attending a programme recently at the Matara District Secretariat to brief community leaders and government officials on the initiative.
Under this programme, 322 villages across the island will be selected—one from each Divisional Secretariat division—and developed by covering areas such as education, economy, health and sanitation, household management and social well-being, cultural and spiritual development, and environmental conservation.
The programme is jointly implemented by the Productivity Secretariat and the “Clean Sri Lanka” Secretariat, under the direct supervision of Divisional Secretaries
