COLOMBO – President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, coinciding
with the National War Heroes’ Commemoration Day, which honours the heroic War Heroes who
sacrificed their lives to eradicate terrorism in this country and achieved victory, has promoted 114 Officers and 1395 Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Regular and Volunteer Force to their next
rank.
This decision follows the recommendations of the Ministry of Defence and the Commander
of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu.
These promotions were awarded to members of all Army regiments and are effective from 19
May 2024, the day of the War Heroes’ Memorial Day.(end)
