COLOMBO : Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman was the Guest of Honour at the Naam 200 event in Colombo on 2 November 2023, to mark 200 years of arrival of the Indian – origin Tamil community to Sri Lanka . At the event, Finance Minister of India:
➡️Virtually launched phase – 4 of the flagship Indian Housing Project for the construction of 10,000 houses in plantation areas of Sri Lanka along with Ranil Wickremesinghe , President of Sri Lanka.
➡️ Virtually inaugurated the upgraded Thondaman Vocational Training Center, built with Government of India grant assistance along with Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Sri Lanka.
➡️Marked the launch of supply of notebooks and schoolbags to 10,000 school going children along with Prime Minister H.E Dinesh Gunwardena and Hon. Education Minister Susil Premjayantha and Hon. State Minister of Education Arvind Kumar.
➡️Rolled out the project for installation of RO Plants in schools along with Prime Minister Dinesh Gunwardena and Hon. Education Minister Susil Premjayantha and State Minister of Education Arvind Kumar.
