COLOMBO: Ten people who took part in a protest organized by the Frontline Socialists Party in Kalutara flouting the health guidelines of the government were arrested by Sri Lanka Police on Wednesday (07).
The protest was against the rising cost of living and moments after it began officers from the Kalutara South Police station arrived at the location and arrested the group for violating the quarantine law.
On Wednesday, the Sri Lankan police announced that all activities such as public meetings and protests which gather large numbers of people will not be allowed until further notice.
The directives were issued by the Director-General of Health Services taking into account the risks of further spread of novel coronavirus.Stern action will be taken against those who violate this quarantine regulation, the police stressed
