CAP to release book on ‘Muslim Women’s Dress’- AGM held in Colombo

COLOMBO : Community Association of Professionals (CAP), a research based organization had its Annual General Meeting on Saturday,June 26 via online/ zoom .

CAP comprises reputed professionals and academics of Sri Lankan Muslim Community.  At the outset the founder president  Zuhyle, former Ambassador outlined the broad performance of the past by CAP.  

The aim of CAP is to reflect on the socio-cultural, academic and economic status of the community in Sri Lankan. .  

CAP has organised and conducted a number of events and activities since its inception in 2018. A full-day workshop was organised by CAP in May 2018 to strategize to increase the contribution of the Community towards Nation-building. It came up with a Strategic Plan for the Community to enhance the quality and the character of the Community. It envisioned to achieve 10% contribution by the community in key National endeavours by 2028.

CAP in its second phase since June 2019 geared itself to address issues concerning attention. In this process it undertook a detailed study on the Madrasa Education System in the country and developed a report with recommendations for implementation by the concerned authorities.

The study earned the reputation of authorities concerned. The report was presented to senior public officials Minister of Justice Hon. Ali Sabry P.C. , Minister of Public Security, Hon. Rear Admiral (Rtd) Sarath Weerasekara, and Minister of Education, Hon. Prof. G. L. Peiris. Minister Weerasekara, in his statement to Parliament on the  10th March 2021 made mentioned about this study and its recommendations. During the meeting with Prof. G. L. Peiris, he expressed his approval of the report and agreed to appoint a Madrasa Accreditation Board (MAB), which was a key recommendation of the study. Furthermore, the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the Easter Sunday Attacks quotes sections of this Report positively and referenced a number of its important recommendations as well.

CAP has undertaken a project to release a book on Muslims Women’s Dress. It will be released soon.
