COLOMBO : The Zahira College Old Boys’ Rugby Association (ZOBRA) hosted the Zahira Rugby Night and Felicitation Ceremony at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, Colombo, under the patronage of College Principal Trizviiy Marikkar on Saturday, November 7.

ZOBRA President Irfan Lye delivered the welcome address, while Chairman of Exotic Holidays International Pvt Ltd and former Zahira College rugby captain Rizvi Fuard, who attended as the chief guest and presented awards to the players.
The Zahira College First XV Rugby Team, which finished as runners-up in the 2026 Rugby League Tournament was felicitated at the ceremony and Captain of the team Hakeem Chuncheer and members received the awards. Also former Zahira rugby legends including Riza Abdeen, Tony Amith, Ifthikar Ahamed and Rizvi Fuard were also honoured in recognition of their contributions to Zahira rugby.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Trizviiy Marikkar noted that Zahira College had achieved second place nationally in the previous rugby season. He expressed his appreciation to the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Fouzul Hameed, and the members of the Board for their dedication and commitment to the College.
He also extended his gratitude to the Coaches, College Management, Rugby Committee, Master-in-Charge (MIC), parents and Old Boys, acknowledging their hard work, dedication and teamwork in contributing to the College’s success.
The ceremony also recognized members of the 2024 and 2025 First XV rugby squads, as well as the Under-14 Rugby Team, which emerged as All-Island Champions in 2025.
The College Principal, Trizviiy Marikkar, was also felicitated and presented with a token of appreciation during the ceremony in recognition of his valuable contribution, continuous encouragement, and unwavering support towards the promotion and development of sports in the college.
Among those present were guest of honour Jisthy Fahmi Chairman of the Diamond Best Foods, Rugby Night Organizing Committee Chairman Fawzan Anver, Special Guest Nazeem Ghafoor, Rugby Master-in-Charge Rohitha Hettiarachchi, BOG Secretary Nuzri Munsoor, Head Coach Radhika Hettiarachchi, Assistant Coach Danushka Botheju, Old Boys’ Association President Hazik Jaleel, Rugby Committee President Aufer Johar, Secretary Rishard Thahir, former rugby Players and captains along with organizing committee members.
