COLOMBO- The Young Women’s Association (YWMA) headed by Fawaza Thaha ,donated household equipment to poor widows to carry out their self-help projects from home.
The donations are being made to mark the International Women’s Day on March 7, 20218, Thaha told Colombo Times.
These widows were severely affected from the effects of the pandemic which has ruined their mode of earnings, The social workers also presented gold earrings for 10 children from poverty strickened families.
Those attended included, Ameenath Azeema,third secretary of the High Commission of Maldives in Colombo, Retired School Principal and vice- patron of the YWMA Marliya Sideek, Secretary Soraya Rizvi and former President of the All-Ceylon YMMA Conference Khalid Farook.
Donations were made by Dato Nazeera Hussein in memory of her beloved father and Marliya Sideek, chairperson of the YWMA Widows’ Project.
