Young artists invited to design logo marking 50 years of Sri Lanka–Palestine Solidarity

COLOMBO – The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and the Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine (SLCSP), announces the launch of a nationwide logo design competition inviting young artists to create the official emblem for the 50th anniversary of solidarity and friendship between the peoples of Sri Lanka and Palestine.

The competition is open to children under 16 and is being held under the theme ‘Your Design Tells the Story: 50 Years, One Bond’.

Participants are invited to create a single, original artwork that reflects the shared history, friendship, resilience and hopes that have characterised five decades of Sri Lanka–Palestine solidarity.

Entries should reflect one or more of four core themes: Solidarity, Friendship, Endurance and Hope.

Competition Guidelines

-The artwork must be original and entirely hand-drawn. Digital, AI-generated and traced entries will not be accepted.

-Accepted mediums include watercolour, coloured pencils, crayons, chalk, markers and mixed media.

-Each participant may submit one entry only.

-Entries must be on A4 paper.

–Each entry must be certified by the participant’s parent or guardian and must include the 

name and age of the participant, and the name and contact details of a parent or guardian, on the reverse of the entry.

Prizes

-1st Prize: Laptop

-2nd and 3rd Prizes: Tablets

-4th–10th Prizes: Gift vouchers

-All participants: Certificate of participation

The winning artwork will be officially adopted as the emblem of the SLCSP’s 50th anniversary commemorative programme. The winning artist will also be recognized at anniversary events to be held later this year.

The competition aims to give young Sri Lankans an opportunity to express, through art, their understanding of friendship, solidarity and the enduring bonds between the peoples of Sri Lanka and Palestine.:photo Getty images
