MELBOURNE : The Western Suburbs Janaza Scheme, Melbourne, Australia successfully conducted a fundraising dinner on 12 September 2026 at the Sunshine Community Centre, Melbourne, attracting an estimated 350 to 375 attendees from across the community.
The event brought together community members, religious scholars, prominent guests, and well-wishers in support of the Janaza Scheme and its ongoing efforts to provide essential funeral and bereavement-related services to the community.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the President of the Western Suburbs Janaza Scheme, Mr. Mohamed Illyaas, who warmly welcomed the guests and expressed appreciation for their participation and continued support.
An Islamic lecture was subsequently delivered by Sheikh Ajwad, who addressed the gathering on matters of faith, community responsibility, and the importance of supporting initiatives that serve the wider community.
The fundraising session was conducted by Sheikh Jibali, who appealed to the attendees to contribute generously towards the continued development and sustainability of the Janaza Scheme. The appeal received an encouraging response from those present.
The event was further distinguished by the presence of several special guests, including Mr. Mohamed Fazul Jiffry, a prominent Sri Lankan-born businessman based in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
The evening concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary, Mr. Riyaz, who conveyed his appreciation to the speakers, distinguished guests, donors, organisers, volunteers, and all members of the community whose contributions helped make the event a success.
