COLOMBO : The Intertropical Convergence Zone (the zone where the winds coming from the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere converge) is affecting the island’s weather and due to its influence, an increase in the current rainfall is expected in the island.
Showers or thunderstorms will occur in most parts of the island after around 2.00 pm.
Some places in Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces received mm. Highs above 100 are also possible.
Rain may also occur in the coastal areas of Western, Southern and Eastern provinces and Mannar and Jaffna districts in the morning.
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the danger caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
