Vietnam’s ROX Group Ready for Large-Scale Investment in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO : President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with senior representatives of Vietnam’s ROX Group at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon Tuesday, on August (12). The delegation was led by Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Advisory Board of ROX Group and Chairman of the Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB).

The ROX Group delegation expressed their readiness to make significant investments in Sri Lanka, citing the nation’s current stability and favourable investment climate. They sought government assistance to establish an industrial zone and indicated interest in the renewable energy and real estate sectors. The visit, they said, aimed to identify suitable land and secure the necessary institutional support for these ventures.

President Dissanayake affirmed the government’s commitment to providing all necessary institutional backing for foreign investments, highlighting that a corruption-free environment has now been established in Sri Lanka.

The ROX Group representatives conveyed their satisfaction with the country’s present conditions and reaffirmed their intention to proceed with large-scale investments.

Also attending the meeting were Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong, Chairperson of the ROX Group; Ms. Luu Le Chi, Chief Officer of the Energy Division; Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake and Senior Additional Secretary to the President Mr. Roshan Gamage.
: The visiting delegation also met with Minister of Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody, on the same day at the Ministry of Energy to discuss potential investments in Sri Lanka’s power sector.
The visit follows agreements and bilateral ties established during President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s recent official tour of Vietnam. ROX Group officials expressed strong interest in investing across multiple sectors in Sri Lanka, with the energy sector identified as their top priority.
The delegation is scheduled to conduct an observation tour tomorrow in the Northern and Eastern provinces to assess the feasibility of establishing large-scale wind and solar power plants.
During the meeting, ROX Group shared details of their international energy projects in countries such as the United Kingdom, Mongolia, and Kyrgyzstan, highlighting their global experience in renewable energy development.
Minister Jayakody welcomed the interest, stating that Sri Lanka, under a government with strong and stable public support, has expedited energy sector reforms and offers a favourable environment for foreign investment.
The visiting delegation was led by ROX Group Chairman Le Anh Due, accompanied by senior company executives.
