United Republic Front presents a proposal to the President for a united step

COLOMBO : The United Republic Front’s proposal titled “A united step for the country” was presented to President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Srikota United National Party headquarters in Colombo today (24) morning.

The delegation, including the leader of the United Republic Front, Member of Parliament Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka, presented the relevant proposal to the President after meeting with the President and engaging in discussion.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe, who spoke at the event, said that the government has worked hard in the last two years to stabilize the country’s broken economy. Pointing out that the government has worked to bring the country’s economy on the right track with reform decisions, the President said that his aim is to implement it further with the support of everyone.

Recalling his open invitation to all political parties to join a common program for the country without political differences, the President said that he would not hesitate to join all the positive proposals of other political parties in the country building program.

The President gave a good response to the request of the Member of Parliament Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka to provide the opportunity for other political parties to participate in the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund next month related to the restructuring of foreign debt.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe, who responded to the inquiry regarding the holding of the elections, said that the presidential election will be held on time and the general election is expected to be held early next year.

United National Party Deputy Leader, President’s Senior Adviser on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardena, United National Party Secretary General Palitha Rangebandara are also present on this occasion, while Karu Paranavithana, Nishantha Sri Varnasinghe and lawyer Shiral Lakthilaka were present representing the United Republic Front.
