
COLOMBO : Chairman of Litro Gas Lanka Theshara Jayasinghe is said to have been reinstated several hours after he was removed from the position.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is reported to have instructed to reinstate the dismissed Chairman following an inspection visit at the Litro Gas Terminal on Thursday even though the Finance Ministry Secretary has sent the letter of removal.
It was informed that former Housing Development Authority Chairman Renuka Perera was appointed to the position left vacant after Jayasinghe’s removal.
During his industry experience, Jayasinghe has demonstrated great acumen in providing consultancy services in the sphere of strategic planning, strategic marketing & communication, business process re-engineering, integrated risk management, banking and finance industry – credit governance & IT governance to a number of Government agencies, private sector companies and remains a successful business leader.
He holds a Master of Business Studies and Master of Financial Economics from the University of Colombo (2009 & 2021), Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Western Sydney (2004-2007) and currently reading for his Bachelor of Law from the University of London.
Jayasinghe was appointed as the Chairman/Director General of National Youth Services Council by a board appointed by His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in 2020. He was appointed as the first Non-Accountant Business Unit Head in the history of Ernst & Young, Sri Lanka. He was also appointed as the First Pan Country Business Fictional Head at HSBC covering 3 HSBC entities established in two countries.
Meanwhile, Litro Gas Lanka has introduced a new mechanism under which unfinished LPG cylinders of 12.5 kg, 5 kg, and 2.3 kg sizes that were released to the market prior to 4th December 2021 to be returned to the company at the discretion of the customer.
A statement from the Litro Gas stated that the gas cylinders should also contain a black or blue seal.
The company further said such unfinished LPG cylinders must be returned to the Litro Gas Lanka sales agent and a receipt that states the amount of LPG left in the cylinder and the market value of the same will be issued to the customer.
Stating that a new cylinder cannot be provided in exchange for the unfinished cylinder at the time of handing over, the company said it will instead reduce the value of the unfinished cylinder when the customer provides the receipt to purchase a new cylinder.
