COLOMBO:Two names will come before the parliament on Tuesday to elect a deputy speaker to fill the vacancuy created by Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremsinghe has suggested a woman deputy speaker.
The Opposition Leader has proposed the name of Rohini Kavirathne for the role of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Sagara Kariyawasam has stated that he proposes the name of Ajith Rajapaksa for the role of Deputy Speaker at the Parliament.
It was decided at the recent meeting of the Party Leaders in Parliament to elect a representative to fill the vacancy in the post of Deputy Speaker, which fell vacant following the recent resignation of Ranjith Siyambalapitiya who was elected as the Deputy Speaker for the second time.
