COLOMBO — The Welfare Association of St. Sebastian Sinhala Vidyalaya organized a felicitation ceremony to honor former Principal Mrs. G.R.P. Raban in recognition of her remarkable service from 2019 to 2026. The event was held on Thursday, April 9, under the patronage of the current Principal, Mrs. Raihana Vaffa.
During the ceremony, the President of the Welfare Association, M.Y.M. Zavahir, presented a token of appreciation to Mrs. Raban in acknowledgment of her dedicated service to the school.
The Association also took the opportunity to honor past principals and teachers who made significant contributions to the development of the school. Past Principals Mrs. Shiyana Aslam and Mrs. Freeda Khan, along with former teachers Mrs. Sujatha Perera, Mrs. A.C.J. Pieris, and Mrs. B.C. Rajanandani, were presented with mementos. A special memento was also presented to the current Principal, Mrs. Raihana Osman.
A highlight of the event was the opening of the school library, which was ceremonially declared open by former Principal Mrs. G.R.P. Raban.
The students welcomed the past principals with the school band and the staff. Mrs. I.S.A. Wanigaratna addressed the gathering and, with tears, praised the former principal, Mrs. G.R.P. Raban, for her kindness and encouragement.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary A.T.M. Naushad, Treasurer S.A.C.M. Naushad, SDC Secretary S.S.M Hassan, Welfare Association Vice President M. Farzan , teachers, students, and parents.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Head of the School, Mrs. Sujani Silva.
