COLOMBO : HRH The Princess Royal met communities resettled in landmine-cleared areas in Muhamalai, Kilinochchi District on Thursday evening on Jan 11.
The UK continues to work to keep Sri Lankans safe from landmines and support them to sustainably resettle in conflict-affected regions of the country.
The Princess Royal paid a historic visit to the Jaffna Public library, a landmark of great significance. This important moment marks the first visit by a member of the Royal Family to Jaffna.
first Royal visit to Jaffna, HRH The Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence visited the Jaffna Public library where they heard of its significance to the community and met with key individuals from the fields of education, arts and culture. British high commissioner Andrew Patrick escorted the dignitaries to the north.
The princess also paid a visit to the hill capital of Kandy where she visited Sri Dalada Maligawa and paid floral tributes .
