The Middle East cannot be allowed to descend into a broader war that will have catastrophic consequences for millions- Former Governor Azath Salley

COLOMBO : Former governor Azath Salley has expressed his concerns on the ongoing conflict in the Middle Easy due Israeli-Amrrical aggression on Iran.

in a statement issued in Colomb, Salley said ” I am deeply concerned by the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Middle East, which threatens not only the stability of the region but also the peace and security of the entire world. The continued aggression and reckless military actions carried out by Israel, coupled with the provocative rhetoric and political backing from U.S. President Donald Trump, have further inflamed tensions at a time when restraint and diplomacy are urgently required.
Such actions and statements, including calls that undermine the sovereignty of nations and escalate hostilities, are irresponsible and dangerous. The international community cannot remain silent while a region already suffering from decades of conflict is pushed closer to a wider and more devastating confrontation.
The suffering of innocent civilians across the region, particularly in Palestine, must not be ignored. The world has repeatedly witnessed the consequences of unchecked aggression and double standards in international affairs. It is imperative that global leaders act with wisdom and responsibility to prevent further bloodshed.
I strongly call for the immediate de-escalation of hostilities, the cessation of all military aggression, and the urgent resumption of diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
At this critical moment, Muslim nations must rise above their differences and come together in unity to advocate for justice, peace, and the protection of innocent lives. A collective and principled stance by the Muslim world is essential to ensure that international law is upheld and that the rights of oppressed peoples are not ignored.
The Middle East cannot be allowed to descend into a broader war that will have catastrophic consequences for millions. The time has come for dialogue, restraint, and genuine efforts toward a just and lasting peace.”
