COLOMBO — The Khairiya Ahadiya School (Clifton Lane Islamic Instruction Society) had organised its 68th Anniversary and prize giving ceremony at the Tower Hall, Maradana, Colombo on Sunday January 18 under the patronage of the Principal of the School – M.Z.M. Zainul Abdeen.
High Commissioner of Malaysia in Sri Lanka Badli Hisham Adam was present as the chief guest.
President of Clifton Lane Islamic Instruction Society Haaziq Jaleel delivered the welcome address.
Clifton Lane Islamic Instruction Society was founded in 1958 by Marhoom Al Haj T.B. Jaleel and Initially the Ahadiya School was conducted in Clifton Lane Mosque and later it was shifted to Khairiya Muslim Girls College and later the Ahadiya was Named as Khairiya Ahadiya School. Marhoom Al Haj Rumi Jaleel the Immediate Past President ran the Ahadiya for over 30 years and passed away last October.
Ahadiyya Schools function as Sunday Schools focusing on Islamic Studies, Currently there are over 100 students studying from Grade 1 to 11, Emphasis on moral values, discipline, character building, and religious knowledge. Operates under the Central Federation of Ahadiyya Schools and Guided by the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.
The winners of the competitions Dua Recitation, General Knowledge, Quirath, Islamic Song, Calligraphy, Essay and a Speech from chief guest High Commissioner of Malaysia in Sri Lanka Badli Hisham Adam added color to the show.. Also students presented various cultural events at this ceremony.
President of Clifton Lane Islamic Instruction Society Haaziq Jaleel presented a token of appreciation to the chief guest High Commissioner of Malaysia in Sri Lanka Badli Hisham Adam.
Students, parents, teachers, special guests and well-wishers graced the event.
