
COLOMBO : Sri Lanka’s first test captain Bandula Warnapura passed away on Monday,Oct.18 while being treated at a private hospital. He was a right handed batsman and also contributed with right arm medium pace bowling.
He played four Test matches and 12 One Day Internationals during his international cricketing career from 1975 to 1982. However, when he decided to tour South Africa with rebel team in 1982-83, he was handed a life ban from Sri Lankan cricket. Although the ban was lifted, he did not play international cricket again.
