‘Study in Malaysia Education Fair’ in Colombo

COLOMBO — Study in Malaysia Education Fair flagged off at the Marino Beach Hotel in Colombo on Saturday August 24. The chief guest of the Ceremony High Commissioner of Malaysia to Sri Lanka Badli Hisham Adam who inaugurated the fair. 
High Commissioner of Malaysia Badli Hisham Adam said in his speech;: ” Today’s fair is more than just an exhibition of academic opportunities. It is  a celebration of the strong and growing educational partnership between  Malaysia and Sri Lanka. For decades, our two nations have enjoyed warm and close relations, rooted in shared history, mutual respect, and people-to- people connections. Education has always been one of the key pillars of this partnership.”
Further he said ” Malaysia has long been recognised as a preferred destination for  international students, particularly in Asia. Our universities offer world class programmes, globally recognised qualifications, and a vibrant multicultural environment. Currently, Malaysia is home to more than 130,000 international students from over 160 countries, making it a true hub of diversity and academic excellence. Also said at the moment, about 3,448 Sri Lankan studying in Malaysia in wide range of our Public and Private Higher Institutions across Malaysia. The number of applications for Sri Lankan students also show very positive trend with 1,029 applications of the year 2024 comparing by 902 in the year of 2023. The number is keep growing as we see more than 500 applications EMGS received at the end of July.
The event showcased the presence of top Malaysian universities, including Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Asia Pacific University (APU), Taylor’s University, Sunway University, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Lincoln University College, Raffles University, University of Cyberjaya (UOC), Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC), Study PENANG, IPK College Penang, and Inti International College Penang.
Moeen ud Din Ahmad Khan, Regional Marketing Manager of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), President of the Sri Lanka–Malaysia Business Council Marshad Barry, Past Presidents Khalid M. Farouk, M.H.K.M. Hameez and Strategic Partner Mway Pvt Ltd CEO Mueen M. Masakeen were also present.
