COLOMBO : St. Benedict’s College, Colombo booked their place in the Semi Finals of the Under-19 Division 1 Tier ‘B’ Limited Overs Tournament 2025/26 with a comfortable victory over Ananda College, Colombo in their quarter-final clash today (9th October) at St. Benedict’s College Grounds.
After winning the toss, Ananda College opted to bowl first, but the hosts capitalized on the opportunity to post a commanding total of 272/5 in their allotted 50 overs.
Stellar batting performances from Mario Fernando (91), Vihanga Rathnayaka (68*), and Tehan Bitar (54) laid a strong foundation, propelling St. Benedict’s to a competitive score.
Chasing a challenging target, Ananda College fell short, managing 225 runs in reply. Ovin Perera was the standout performer for the visitors with a valiant 63 runs.
However, the St. Benedict’s bowling attack proved too disciplined to overcome. Mevan Disanayake led the charge with 3 wickets for 33 runs, while Yohan Edirisinghe and Manikya Deshapriya provided crucial support, claiming 2 wickets each.
