COLOMBO: The *Serendib Schools Development Foundation (SSDF)* hosted its *first-ever Inter-School Sports Fiesta 2025* on June 11th and 12th at the prestigious *Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo*, marking a new milestone in its ongoing mission to empower students from underprivileged communities through sports and holistic development.
The two-day event brought together *over 1,500 students* from *17 SSDF-supported schools* across the island. *Day One (June 11th)* was dedicated to *girls’ competitions*, while *Day Two (June 12th)* featured the *boys’ events*. The Fiesta saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents, and distinguished guests, creating an atmosphere of unity, excitement, and spirited competition.
The event was graced by prominent personalities including *Mr. Fouzul Hameed*, Managing Director of Hameedia, as the *Chief Guest*. The *Guests of Honour* included *Mr. Shahid Sangani*, Secretary of SSDF; *Mr. ABM Ashraff*, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister; *Mrs. M. Charmaly Edirisinghe*, Deputy Director of Education – Colombo Zonal Education Office (Guest of Honour on Day One), as well as members of the *SSDF Board of Governors*, school principals, and other dignitaries.
The Sports Fiesta featured a wide range of athletics, team sports, and cultural performances, showcasing the immense talent and perseverance of students supported by SSDF. It also served as a platform to promote values of teamwork, discipline, and leadership, reinforcing SSDF’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals.
