COLOMBO — National Level Essay Competition Award Ceremony Successfully held on Tuesday April 28 .
The Embassy of Nepal in Colombo in coordination with the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural affairs successfully conducted the National Level Essay Competition Award Ceremony bringing together distinguished dignitaries, educators, students, and well-wishers to celebrate academic excellence and promote intellectual engagement among youth.
The event commenced with the National Anthems of Sri Lanka and Nepal, followed by welcome remarks delivered by His Excellency the Ambassador of Nepal. In his address, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of educational collaboration and cultural exchange in strengthening the longstanding friendship between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The chief guest Gamagedara Dissanayake, Deputy Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, graced the occasion and delivered an inspiring address.
The ceremony featured the presentation of awards to the top five winners, followed by recognition of the top ten selected awardees. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the country, reflecting a high standard of writing and thoughtful engagement with the given themes.
In recognition of their valuable support and contribution, tokens of appreciation were presented to several distinguished individuals, including Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobitha Thero of the Sri Bodhiraja Foundation, Mahendra Jayasekera, President of the YMBA, Dr. Kaushalya Kumarasinghe, Director of the SAARC Cultural Centre, Senior Lecturer Pradeep Gunasena of the Buddhist and Pali University, Mrs. H.N. Kumari, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Gamini Senarathna, Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs, and Wasantha Liyanage, Commissioner of Dhamma Schools.
Special recognition was also extended to Dhamma Schools and participating schools for their active role in disseminating information and encouraging student participation in the competition.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Deputy Chief of Mission, Vijay Kumar Raut, who expressed sincere appreciation to all stakeholders for their support in making the event a success.
The National Level Essay Competition forms part of the Embassy’s continued efforts to promote education, cultural understanding, and youth engagement between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
