Sri Lankan Hajj pilgrim who went in the first group,dies of heart attack in Makkah

MAKKAH :A Sri Lankan Hajj pilgrim who went in the first group of Hajis from Colombo on May 1, died of heart attack in the holy masjid in Makkah on Sunday, May 3 immediately after his Thahajjath prayers.

The deceased Atham Kandu Abdul Rauf , 69, born in Pottuvil and now living in Akkaraipattu.

According to a fellow pilgrim who went in the same group told Colombo Times that the deceased was hale and hearty and showed no signs of ill-health. He got this chest pain following his Thahajath prayers .

The Sri Lankan consulate in Jeddah is coordinating with with the Hajj authorities to have his final rites in Makkah itself after the Janaza prayers performed by thousands of pilgrims in the holy Kaaba.
