Sri Lankan Hajj pilgrim dies in Makkah due to cardiac arrest

COLOMBO : A Sri Lankan Hajj pilgrim, Alhaj  Abdul Majeed Mohamed Nijam,71, who had come to Makkah to perform Hajj this time had died of cardiac arrest in Mina on Thursday, June 29.

The deceased had travelled with the  Sri Lankan Hajj Travel Group namely Rashadi Travels, ha suffered the attack while he was coming from Jamrath  after throwing the stone at Jamrath area.

According to the Hajj Committee, report released from the Department of Muslim, religious and Cultural Affairs , the pilgrim was was taken to Hospital immediately but on the way he passed away.  He is resident of Panagamuwa, Kurunegala and owner of Ibnagamuwa Fuel Filling Station.

The Staff of the Department of Muslim Religious amd Cultural Affairs and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah and of the representative of Rashadi Travels went to the hospital and

Police and attended to the formalities.

The Saudi  Authorities have now  confirmed that the Janaza will be taken to Masjidul  Haram for Janaza prayers after Isha prayers on Friday, 30th June 2023 and that the Janaza will be buried in Makkah.
