Sri Lanka School Basketball Association hosts the 66th Inter Schools under 20 Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Championship tournament 2026

COLOMBO – Sri Lanka School Basketball Association has organized 66th Inter Schools under 20 Boys’ and Girls Basketball Championship tournament 2026 under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.  

President of the Sri Lanka School Basketball Association U.D. Iran Champika Silva briefed about the tournament to the media at the Language Hall, Nalanda College, Colombo on Wednesday September 30. 

The first match began on 1st  October at the Olympus Sports Stadium Malabe.  The remaining matches will be worked out at Zahira College Indoor Court, Nalanda College Indoor Court, Olympus Sports Stadium Malabe, Ballers Hub Moratuwa and Sugathadssa Stadium

The final match will be held on 12th November at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

People’s Bank is powering the Inter-School Under-20 Basketball Championship 2026, supporting the development of young sporting talent as the national school basketball People’s Bank Deputy Head of Marketing Charitha D. Karunarathne presented sponsorship cheque to President of the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association Iran Champika Silva at the media briefing.  

A total of 60 boys’ teams will compete in Divisions A, B and C, with Division C Comprising Tier 1 and Tier 2. The girls’ competition will feature 26 teams competing in Divisions A, B Tier 1, B Tier 2, C Tier 1 and C Tier 2.

Through its partnership with the championship, People’s Bank continues to support the growth of school sports and provide opportunities for the country’s young athletes to develop their talent and pursue sporting excellence.

Secretary of the Assertion M.P. Kuhatharan, and officials of the Association and students were also present.
